Consultation and engagement for; co- delivery with Community Council for Somerset (CCS)

Time Frame: Contracted in February 2018 completed end May 2018

Details: Clarity was contracted with CCS by Minehead Connect CIC to design and deliver a community consultation and report on the views of the general public on future uses of the Old Minehead Hospital. Clarity supported the creation of questionnaires which went out to Minehead residents and undertook open day events at the hospital to gage public opinion. Feedback was received from 869 respondents with over 250 people attended one of the three Open House Events. Additionally, 51 local organisations were contacted and 29 telephone interviews were conducted. 9 District Councillors and the County Councillor for the Minehead area were interviewed to capture their views of needs in the locality. Clarity analysed the consultation data reported on the findings and offered recommendations for the next steps in the project development.

Outputs: Design of public consultation questions and process; attendance at public Open Events, telephone interviews, data analysis and preparation of consultation report.

For Minehead Connect CIC:

  • Increased awareness of needs within the local community
  • Better understanding of public opinion and what was considered important by the community
  • Increased buy-in and backing from the general public and local community representatives
  • Evidence to support future funding bids

For the general public and community groups:

  • Improved understanding of the issues with regards options for the building
  • An opportunity to express their views

“I just want to say a huge thank you for helping us create a great buzz in the old hospital this weekend – and especially for holding it all together when the queues were forming and chaos was reigning amongst the tour guides! I’m happily exhausted! Saturday completely exceeded our expectations. In fact the whole process has been a solid reinforcement of the principles of the project.” Minehead Old Hospital Project, Co-ordinator

Promas Caring for People CIC

Promas is an award winning Cornwall based Community Interest Company running courses for carers, enabling them to cope better, reduce their stress levels and be better skilled to undertake their caring role. Clarity has been supporting Promas since 2015 to develop their monitoring and evaluation tools and processes and have produced comprehensive impact reports on the Reaching Communities funded work. As part of the external view of the organisation, we conducted guided telephone interviews with clients to gather case study information and ran a focus group with carers. Reports were produced in two formats, the first providing a comprehensive and detailed analysis and the second being a short infographic report highlighting the key data and findings.

Our track record

What our clients say

“The report is perfect and thanks for introducing me to Canva… it looks really useful and something I would like to use… so thank you so much – two for the price of one. I like the report; it’s simple and reflects the conflict of living in a pandemic.”

“I just wanted to say again a big thank you again for organising such a great event last night. There was a real buzz from the group and I thought the format worked extremely well with lots of networking and sharing ideas. The expert appointments also worked really well and we had to literally kick people out at 9pm – they would have kept talking for hours if not!”

“Thanks to you both for a very enjoyable and useful day. As a person who has been rather over exposed to consultants in his working lifetime I found your approach very refreshing. Many of your observations were helpful to me as they opened the eyes of some of the team about the difference between idealism and running a business. I am looking forward to our AGM and Trustees meeting to build on the day.”

“The guidance around how to ask the ‘right’ question was exactly what we needed.”
